Authors' Guidelines

The Afrocentric Legal Review (ALR) welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance knowledge and critical discussion in law, governance, justice, human rights, public policy, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Types of Manuscripts

ALR considers:

  • Original research articles

  • Comparative legal studies
  • Theoretical and conceptual papers
  • Empirical legal research

  • Interdisciplinary research
  • Book reviews and scholarly commentaries

Manuscript Requirements

Authors should ensure that submissions:

  • Are original and have not been published elsewhere.
  • Present a clear research problem, objectives, and scholarly contribution.
  • Demonstrate appropriate engagement with relevant literature.
  • Use appropriate legal, theoretical, empirical, or interdisciplinary methods.
  • Provide accurate citations and references.
  • Follow consistent academic formatting throughout the manuscript.
  • Include an appropriate title, author information, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, and figures where applicable.

Originality and Exclusive Submission

Manuscripts submitted to ALR must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and appropriately acknowledge all sources.

Ethical Responsibility

Authors must uphold standards of academic integrity and must not engage in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research misconduct.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, interpretation, and integrity of their submitted work. All authors should have made meaningful contributions to the research and approve the final manuscript.

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Authors should carefully review their manuscripts before submission to ensure that all required information and supporting files are included.
