Plagiarism Policy

The Afrocentric Legal Review (ALR) considers plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct unacceptable.

Plagiarism includes presenting another person's words, ideas, data, arguments, or intellectual contributions as one's own without appropriate acknowledgement.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or significant textual overlap using appropriate similarity-detection procedures.

Where substantial plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, the journal may:

• Reject the manuscript.
• Request an explanation from the authors.
• Notify the relevant institution where appropriate.
• Retract a published article where misconduct is subsequently established.
• Take other appropriate action consistent with publication ethics.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly cited and that submitted manuscripts are original.

Similarity scores are considered alongside editorial assessment; a similarity percentage alone does not automatically establish plagiarism.
