Authors' Guidelines

The Commonwealth Journal of Law and Governance (CJLG) welcomes original scholarly contributions that fall within the scope of the journal.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal considers:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Comparative Legal Studies
  • Doctrinal and Theoretical Papers
  • Empirical Research
  • Case Analyses
  • Policy and Governance Papers
  • Interdisciplinary Research
  • Short Scholarly Communications where appropriate

General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to CJLG should:

  1. Be original and not previously published.
  2. Not be under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.
  3. Make a clear scholarly contribution to the relevant field.
  4. Present accurate and properly supported arguments.
  5. Use appropriate academic references and citations.
  6. Follow accepted standards of research and publication ethics.
  7. Obtain appropriate ethical approval where required by the nature of the research.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare manuscripts in a clear and consistent academic format. The manuscript should normally include:

  • Title
  • Author name(s) and institutional affiliation(s)
  • Corresponding author's contact information
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Main text
  • References
  • Tables, figures, or appendices where applicable

Authors should ensure that manuscripts are written clearly and are suitable for anonymous peer review where applicable.

Originality and Plagiarism

All submissions must be original. Authors must appropriately acknowledge the ideas, words, data, and materials of other researchers. Manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.

Authorship

All listed authors should have made a meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript. All authors are responsible for the integrity of the work and should approve the final version before submission.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all required submission information and files are provided.
