Generative AI Policy

The Journal of Health and Environmental Governance (JHEG) recognizes the increasing use of generative artificial intelligence tools in academic research and scholarly communication.

Authors may use AI tools for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, formatting, translation, and limited editorial assistance.

AI systems must not be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the originality, accuracy, integrity, or ethical aspects of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including:

  • Text
  • Data
  • Figures
  • References
  • Analyses
  • Interpretations
  • Conclusions

Where generative AI has been used substantially in preparing a manuscript, authors should provide an appropriate AI-use disclosure.

Authors must also carefully verify AI-assisted content and ensure that references, data, quotations, and factual claims are accurate.
